Dr. Sean Ryan joined the vascular surgical team in July 2004 after completing a fellowship in vascular surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Ryan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and then completed his surgical residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. In addition to outstanding clinical training, Dr. Ryan has won numerous awards for his clinical and basic science research in the treatment of vascular disorders. He has presented his research at both local and national scientific societies.
Dr. Ryan has particular expertise and interest in the treatment and management of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, Carotid Artery Disease, Peripheral Vascular Disease and varicose vein treatment. Dr. Ryan is considered a “high volume” practitioner in carotid artery surgery with outstanding outcomes and patient satisfaction.
In the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms, Dr. Ryan was one of the first in the region to employ a totally percutaneous approach to endovascular aneurysm repair resulting in less discomfort and a quicker return to activities. In the management of peripheral arterial occlusive disease, Dr. Ryan takes an aggressive approach to minimally invasive catheter-based solutions before considering open surgery. Our Vein Center employs state of the art, minimally invasive techniques that have replaced the “vein-stripping” procedures of the past.
Dr. Ryan enjoys seeing patients in consultation on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
